Government
Politically, London and the United Kingdom operate in a Constitutional Monarchy and Commonwealth State. However, in the modern age the monarchy is only a figurehead and nationalistic rallying point for the British people. The real power lies with the Prime Minister (the equivalent of the President) and Parliament which houses both the House of Commons and the House of Lords which is similar to the two house system that the United States uses in Congress. However, a key difference between the two is that, in Parliament, only the House of Commons is elected, the House of Lords is the remnants of the British Aristocracy and their seats and titles are passed from generation to generation.
