2012 Olympic Gymnastics
On the Women's side, the 2012 Olympic Gymnastics competition will be a rematch between the United States and the controversial Chinese team. This controversy is centered around the ages of the Chinese gymnast who some say do not meet the minimum age of 14 for all Olympic athletes. The Americans also use teenage athletes (due to their slighter builds and more flexible bodies) but they develop them further than the Chinese do and peak them around the age of 16. The United States will look to take that talent and apply it, particularly in the vault and through athletes like Jordan Wieber and Gabby Douglas in the All-Around Competition.
The American men will be led by two time Olympic medalist Jonathan Horton but beyond him it will be a team full of rookies and youth that attempt to reclaim the top spot. The United States will hope that the inexperience doesn't hinder them as they take on a strong and veteran led Chinese team who will hope to defend their Team All-Around Gold Medal. Horton will also be a strong contender in the Individual All-Around and will hope to improve upon his 9th place finish in Beijing and bring home a medal!
