Today began bright and early at 5:30 in the morning. We had all packed up the night before so we just got up and went and caught an early morning tube train, along the Piccadilly Line, to Heathrow Terminal 5. However, once we got there we realized that our return flight was not on British Airways, but was instead on American Airlines. So we hustled over to Terminal 3 and checked in with American Airlines.
After checking in and getting through security we met up with some of the students on the Newark flight and hung out in the Duty Free area while waiting for our gate to be announced. Our plane was delayed about 30 minutes so it took a little longer than expected, but once it was on the board we said goodbye to the Newark crew and checked in at our gate. After checking in I heard my name called and looked up to see Meredith Snead sitting there, waiting for the same flight. Meredith and I went to school together from 1st through 12th grade so it was crazy to see her in London on the same flight as me back to the states.
The flight back was longer than the flight there since we were going into the wind, but other than that it was relatively uneventful. Once we landed in Chicago we went through customs and found our gate to wait for our 4:30 flight from Chicago to Toledo. However about an hour before our flight they changed our gate so we all gathered our things and headed for the new gate. About 30 minutes later, however, they changed our gate again, back to what it had been the first time. So for the second time we grabbed our things and headed to another gate where, this time, we boarded the plane and headed home to Toledo.
Once we arrived in Toledo I was surprised to find that my girlfriend, Becky, was waiting for me so I wouldn't need to take the Dragonwagon home. We got Chipotle (one of my favorites) and then headed back to Tiffin, ending a great trip and amazing experience at the London 2012 Olympic Games!
