Both Kevin and Dorren had to work today so Dorren took me into the City Center and helped me get situated for a Hop on Hop Off bus tour before leaving me for work. I got on right outside the tourism center and went for 3 stops before getting off at the Christ Church Cathedral. From there I decided to walk back towards Trinity College and find some lunch.
I wound up stopping in the Trinity Bar where I had some Traditional Irish Stew and Bread while watching Day 1 of the Olympic Track and Field competition. After lunch I headed down to Trinity College (rival of UCD where Kevin and Dorren work) which is a historic Dublin College that has been around since the 16th Century. It features some very interesting Georgian style buildings, as well as a newer section that is very modern. From Trinity I got on the Hop on Hop Off Bus and decided to sit for a while and let the driver take me through the city.
The tour wound throughout the city and passed Dublin landmarks including the Tart with the Cart (pictured), the Guiness brewery, Christ Church and St. Patrick Cathedrals, the Floozy in the Jacuzzi, Phoenix Park, and various landmarks along the River Liffey. The tour also featured commentary from entertaining tour guides who were prone to break out in limericks and songs and make fun of anything and everything we passed along the way.
After finishing the tour I did some shopping and then picked up the LUAS (nicked named the Daniel Day) light rail train and headed back to Kevin and Dorren's house. We had a very nice dinner of Mediterranean style chicken and Cous-Cous before we loaded up the car and headed to the airport for my late evening flight back to London.
